Behind the scenes

Most of us at least aware of events unfolding as Schieffer points to in the Middle East and North Africa amid global events such as the Japan tragedy ...not mentioning yesterday's off topic 'budget cuts' protests in the United Kingdom (Dozens still held after violent disorder in London 27 March 2011 BBC News) ...(as if any one of these events aren't potential game changers for 'the world as we know it' in and of themselves) ...behind the curtains and under our noses beyond tabloid style conspiracy theories ...events are unfolding as if as last minute touches for a prophetic grand finale.

UN Security Council-Libya and the 'Arab Awakening

While the UN Security Council resolution to take military action against Libya was agreed upon by collective nations, the event represents a strategic move to demonstrate a prototype of sorts for a unified global order.

As did Hillary Clinton this morning ...in all their conventional wisdom, pundits and analysts will pick apart each issue ...Libya, Syria, Egypt, Yemen, Jordan, Bahrain as if one has nothing to to with the other ...yet affectionately refer to (as Clinton did) the 'Arab Awakening'.

What isn't discussed in mainstream circles but in the back of many people's minds is as if by orchestration ...nation by nation ...unprecedented human events taking place in the Arab world (including enemies of Israel and traditional allies of the United States) depicts a powerful movement beyond politics and conventional wisdom.

On Libya: Nobly, the Arab League seeks United Nations assistance to create and enforce a no fly zone (which the United States was reluctant to enter into amid Russia and other countries claiming violation of international law without UN Security Council approval) to stop Gaddafi killing of civilian protesters in Libya.

Since the Libyan operation began only days ago following the UN resolution and announcement, the United States has stepped down from lead of the coalition replaced by a not quite ready NATO (NATO of course being the most likely global enforcement for the new global order under what is currently The United Nations).

Israel and United States

More than anyone, as events unfold ...Israel sees the 'writing on the wall' on many fronts ...but the one thing most people fail to imagine happening is the United States not honoring commitments of unconditional military support to Israel in a time of need, or how current events in the Middle East and North Africa are connected.

Nothing in these times should be taken for granted nor assumed based on conventional wisdom or logic and as anyone should know by now ...especially coming from politicians and pundits ...because nothing is at it appears.

So, what about Israel and the United States?

As the United States is stepping aside for NATO to head the Libya operations...

European countries want UN, not U.S., to advance Mideast peace talks

'Putting the job in the hands of the EU and the UN would sideline the United States, Israel's closest ally which has tried unsuccessfully for months to get face-to-face negotiations going, as well as Russia, an ally of the Palestinians. '

Britain, France and Germany want the United Nations and the European Union to propose the outlines of a final settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict that would lead to the establishment of a Palestinian state, UN diplomats said.

The three European countries, all members of the UN Security Council, are pressing for Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and the European Union to propose a settlement text at a meeting in mid-April of the Quartet of Mideast mediators, the diplomats said, speaking on condition of anonymity because talks are taking place in private. 26.03.11Associated Press via Haaretz Israel

On the day before as United States Secretary of Defense Robert Gates on Friday meets with Israeli PM Netanyahu and Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad.

Netanyahu: Israel ready to act with full force to stop missiles

"No country could accept such attacks," Netanyahu told reporters ahead of his meeting with United States Defense Secretary Robert Gates in Caesarea. The prime minister's comments come a day after a Grad rocket was launched towards Ashdod from Gaza in addition to three Qassam rockets which landed in the Negev.

In addition to a drastic increase in rocket fire, a bomb detonated in Jerusalem on Wednesday that killed one and injured over 30.

Before meeting with Gates, Netanyahau promised a "tough reaction" to the bombing attack, adding that Israel would act "responsibly and wisely." 25.03.11 Haaretz Israel

In unison, despite civilian protests in both countries ...declared enemies of Israel ...both countries continue rhetoric against the Jewish State of Israel and occupation of Palestine.

So, what's the point?

One could ask, where Israel isn't even remotely associated with Arab protests in North Africa and the Middle East (including Egypt and Syria), how can any conclusion be drawn on Israel being relevant?

Though not on the front pages of 'mainstream', media amid events in the Arab world, the Japan crisis, and growing tensions in the United States over budget cuts and government resources ...Israel is facing mounting tension on the Palestinian issue, international concern for resolution of the Gaza occupation, ongoing pressure from Iran and Syria, a paradigm shift in the Arab world and surrounding countries ...and now a building consensus in Europe for the UN and EU to ask the United States (Israel's strongest and closest ally) to step aside in the Middle East peace negotiations.

What equates to a nanosecond in history since the Gaza Flotilla Blockade events of last year and the unfolding of events in the Arab world since January ...Israel remains in the cross hairs of her enemies and the center of international focus.
